SEND Support

SEND Support and Educational Psychology Service

The Trust Lead for SEND chairs termly meetings with SENDCOs across the Trust. These meetings identify common areas for development and inform the commissioning of bespoke CPD and support. The schools all work with a straight forward SEND process where a SEND need is primarily addressed through quality first teaching. This is supported by the wider Trust CPD programme. Where higher levels of need are identified, the Trust uses the services of Mosaic Psychology. Mosaic Psychology supports all of our schools to rapidly assess pupil needs and ensure every child gets the support to which they are entitled. In addition, Mosaic Psychology supports our teams to develop their SEND provision, and support with classroom strategies to help meet the needs of SEND learners.

The Trust uses the services of Leicester City and County Educational Psychology teams to undertake statutory assessments for Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Due to the volume of EHCP applications, the Trust supplements this work with commissioned time from Mosaic Psychology.

All Trust Academies use a 3 wave approach to meeting the needs of its SEND students.

Wave 1

The first Wave aims to achieve initial identification and intervention.

Wave 2

Where initial Wave 1 interventions have not secured desired impact, assessment will be moved to Wave 2. This wave allows access to more bespoke and specific specialist interventions based on targeted assessments undertaken at the beginning of the cycle.

Wave 3

If insufficient impact is secured at Wave 1 and 2, Wave 3 seeks to secure additional funding (e.g. through EHC plan) and opens up access to more external and specialist support.
